Terms of Use
These terms explain how PantoneTools may be used, what the color data does and does not represent, and where responsibility sits when a color decision affects production work.
Use of the site
PantoneTools is provided as a free browser-based reference and workflow tool for designers, developers, print teams, and brand operators. You may use the converters, color pages, learning guides, and generated code snippets for personal, internal, educational, and commercial planning work.
You may not use the site to misrepresent affiliation with Pantone LLC, RAL gGmbH, or any other standards owner, scrape the service in a way that harms availability, bypass technical protections, or package the site output as an official licensed color library.
Color accuracy limits
Color conversions and nearest matches on PantoneTools are approximate. The site computes digital values from available reference data and color-space formulas, then ranks matches using documented methods such as CIEDE2000 where applicable. These values are useful for comparison, design exploration, handoff preparation, and QA conversations, but they are not a substitute for licensed digital libraries, physical guides, printer proofs, or instrument measurement.
For production-critical work, confirm the final color with the relevant vendor, substrate, lighting condition, ICC profile, and physical reference. Screen HEX/RGB previews can differ from ink, coating, textile, vinyl, paint, and packaging output.
Trademarks and affiliation
PantoneTools is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or approved by Pantone LLC, RAL gGmbH, X-Rite, or any other color-standard owner referenced on the site. PANTONE® is a registered trademark of Pantone LLC. RAL® is a registered trademark of RAL gGmbH. Other names belong to their respective owners.
Color-system names are used for identification, comparison, and editorial reference. See the disclaimer for the fuller trademark and accuracy notice.
Local processing and uploads
Browser tools such as palette generation, image color extraction, saved colors, and converter inputs are designed to run locally in your browser. Uploaded images are processed in the browser for color extraction and are not intentionally uploaded to PantoneTools servers.
No professional warranty
The site is provided “as is” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, or production suitability. You are responsible for verifying any color decision that affects manufacturing, print approval, accessibility compliance, brand governance, or legal obligations.
Third-party links and sources
PantoneTools may reference standards bodies, specifications, upstream palette projects, or external educational resources. Those references are provided for context and do not mean the external party endorses PantoneTools. External sites and standards may change after we cite them.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product, data sources, licensing posture, or production guidance changes. Continued use of the site after a terms update means you accept the current version.
